Australian Scout Medallion Presentation - Thu 8 Nov

posted 12 Oct 2012, 05:55 by Andrew Yeaman   [ updated 20 Nov 2012, 02:45 ]

Each Section has a unique award system that is relevant to the corresponding age group. In Joey Scouts, due to the age group, the award scheme is based solely on partipation but from Cub Scouts to Rover Scouts these schemes require dedication, individual drive and determination to achieve the top award. In the Scout Section the top award is the Australian Scout Medallion.

Come and join us in a night as 1st Heatherdale presents its first Australian Scout Medallion to Maddie Hosemans.

The night is for all members of the Group and will start at 7pm with the formal presentation of Maddie's Adventurer Cord and Australian Scout Medallion replica badge. It will be followed by supper - so please bring a plate to share.

Family Camp - Fri 26 to Sun 28 Oct

posted 12 Oct 2012, 05:23 by Andrew Yeaman   [ updated 2 Nov 2012, 04:26 ]

It’s time for the Family Camp on Friday 26th October to Sunday 28th October.

Family camp is an opportunity for our families to spend some time together around a camp fire having some fun.

We have booked the camp site at Longridge Park in Warrandyte which is lovely and lush and green with lots of open space to set up camp and enjoy fun activities.

Please see attached 2 documents for further information.

It would be fantastic if we could have many Scouting families get together in the great outdoors for this memorable event.
(We are even close enough for the children to pop out to sporting commitments and return again to camp for more fun!)

Whitehorse Spring Festival - Sun 21 Oct

posted 9 Oct 2012, 04:59 by Andrew Yeaman   [ updated 23 Oct 2012, 04:40 ]

The Whitehorse Festival will be on again on Sunday 21st October behind the Whitehorse Civic Centre.

Once again we have the bridge and an excellent site at the immediate rear of the Civic Centre on a high level piece of ground.

1st Heatherdale has been asked to provide leaders to man the Scout stand from 3pm until close to supervise children on the bridge and to help pack up from 3:30pm.  If you are unable to assist during this time you are encouraged to do any alternative time slot.

It would be great if youth members and families could also come along.

It's that time of year again! Whitehorse Showtime is about to kick off its 48th season and we would love you to come along. The 2012 show, "Knight at the Museum", will take the audience on an amazing and entertaining journey.

Whitehorse Showtime is a revue style show, written, produced and performed by the Scouts and Guides of the Mount Dandenong Region. After months of rehearsal it is performed over six nights plus one matinee to an audience of more than 2700.

This year there are over 145 Scouts and Guides on stage (including some of our own Scouts - Alannah, Eve and Miles), as well as a support crew of 180 working behind the scenes. Showtime is a fantastic opportunity for the youth - learning theatre craft, promoting confidence, teaching social skills and developing leadership among peers.

Cost: $15 (group booking price).

Location: Whitehorse Centre, Whitehorse Road, Nunawading
